I founded the Raleigh Hoop Jam in 2007 as a service project and gift to my community and also because I wanted to have a playdate with my friends!  My goal was to create a fun, free and weekly opportunity to hoop, dance, drum, spin, play, build community, and get your dance on – almost like a little festival in the middle of the week. I reached out the the Raleigh Drum Circle and asked them to collaborate with me and together we have co-created an amazing gathering where we can hoop, drum, dance and spin together every single Wednesday to live music. And, lucky for us, our drummers are all really good, many of them are professionals, so this is likely one of the best drum circles you’ll ever attend.

If you don’t have a hoop, no worries. I bring extra hoops in a variety of sizes. There is something for every hooper.
If you don’t know how to hoop, no worries. We’ll help you get started.
If you want to drum, the Raleigh Drum Circle brings extra drums and percussion instruments and they’ll help you learn how to use them.

All you need to bring is your sweet self. There is no formal instruction at the hoop jam but people gladly share skills. It’s a great way to learn new things, practice what you already know, make friends and get your groove on!

The hoop jam is open to all ages, all skill levels and other skills toys are also welcome. Come play!

Many people feel shy about attending their first hoop jam. Don’t! I promise you, everyone is into their own groove. Besides, our ability to get better at things is directly proportional to how much embarrassment we’re willing to tolerate. So say, “Oh what the heck!?!” and just do it. I promise you’ll be glad you did.
